Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum: which PM plan fits your fleet?
1-3 trucks vs 10+ trucks; T&M vs flat monthly; when the 4-hour SLA actually pays for itself.
Four tiers sounds like marketing until a mast cylinder lets go at 6am on a Tuesday. Then the tier you picked is the difference between a 4-hour fix and a lost shift. Here’s how to pick — by fleet, not by brochure.
The four tiers, with prices
Bronze is time-and-materials: $325 per visit, no contract — right for 1–2 low-hour trucks where downtime is an inconvenience, not a stoppage. Silver fixes the cadence: $285/visit quarterly ($1,140/truck/year) with the 20-point inspection, battery health, fluids, and an annual fleet report. Gold goes bi-monthly at $420/visit and adds the contract teeth: 4-hour emergency response, priority dispatch, trend reports. Platinum is monthly-plus-on-call with the 48-hour loaner pool, account manager, and volume parts pricing — built for 10+ truck, multi-site operations.
The honest decision rules
Single shift, under 1,000 hours/year per truck: Silver. Two shifts or any truck whose stoppage stops production: Gold — the 4-hour SLA is the product. Mixed 10+ fleet across sites: Platinum, mostly for the loaner pool. Bronze is for trucks you could lose for a week without anyone noticing. If that’s none of your trucks, skip it.
Why the SLA matters more than the visit price
PM visits are maybe 60% of what you’re buying. The rest is what happens when something breaks anyway: 98% of our repairs fix on the first visit, and Gold customers have a tech on-site within 4 working hours, guaranteed in writing. Compare that against the revenue of one stopped dock door and the tier delta disappears.
Or collapse it all into one number
Total Coverage™ is the tier system flattened: one monthly price per truck, any brand, PM + repairs + parts + loaner all-in, from $385/month. Mixed fleets love it because the Toyota, the Crowns, and the HELI ride one invoice. Tell us your truck count and shifts — we’ll spec the tier in one call: 630-426-9156.
